02 June 10

Changing Role of the Pharmacist and Diplomat’s Expansion Plans are Interview Focus

Swartz Creek, Mich., June 2, 2010 –Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, the nation’s largest privately held specialty pharmacy company, announces Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy President and CEO, Phil Hagerman, R.Ph., was recently a featured guest on Comcast Newsmakers. Comcast Newsmakers is a Michigan-produced television feature that hosts community leaders and elected officials and airs as a regional segment on CNN Headline News. The interview with Mr. Hagerman is scheduled to air several times in the Lansing market during the week of June 7th and in the Detroit market the week of June 14th.

The topic of the interview is the growth of Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, which recently announced the planned addition of 1000 jobs over the next five years, amid the rapidly changing role of the pharmacist. Traditionally, a pharmacy served one purpose: to provide medications prescribed by a physician. The pharmacy community, which represents a sometimes untapped yet highly trained medical resource, is now taking a much more active role in health care, especially as an anticipated 30 million new patients are expected to be added to the ranks of the insured as a result of health care reform. Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy is at the forefront of the changing role of the pharmacist. Diplomat pharmacists provide clinical management services to help manage complex, life threatening disease states, while working as part of a health care team to help patients achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes.
