U.S. Secretary of Labor Tours Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy’s New Headquarters Calls It a Day of Celebration for Diplomat, Says Flint is Back on the Map Again

FLINT, Mich. July 8, 2011 – On Wednesday, July 6, the U.S. Secretary of Labor, Hilda L. Solis, toured Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, the nation’s largest privately owned specialty pharmacy.

Solis said it was a day of celebration for the way Diplomat turned a former General Motors plant into a successful business. “This (the use of a former automotive building) is testimony of what people can do when they pull together," said Solis. "Flint, Michigan is on the map again."

Solis also made the announcement that the Youngstown, Ohio Mayor, Jay Williams, will be the new director for the office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers.
 
In her remarks, Solis also directly congratulated Diplomat’s president and CEO, Phil Hagerman, for his company’s success as one of the fastest growing healthcare businesses in the nation.
 
“This facility has been a game changer for us and signifies Diplomat’s continued national growth. Diplomat was picked for this important visit as a unique example of how entrepreneurial business can work together with Federal, State, and Local Government to accelerate their growth, “ said Hagerman. “We’ve hired 100 employees so far this year and are on track to hire another 150 before year end. We are excited to turn our company growth into new jobs for the people in our community."

This news comes on the heels of Diplomat’s impressive 2011 Spring Patient Satisfaction Survey. Key survey findings reflect:
 
• 99% of customer respondents were satisfied overall with Diplomat
• 98% indicated that Diplomat meets their expectations
• 90% indicated that Diplomat exceeds their expectations

“The fact that we can achieve the type of growth recognized today by the U.S. Secretary of Labor, without sacrificing patient satisfaction, is tremendously gratifying to all of us at Diplomat,” said Hagerman.
